John Geoffrey Bissell, of Milford, beloved husband of Mary P. Bissell, passed away on March 31, 2026

John Geoffrey Bissell, 78, of Milford, beloved husband of Mary P. Bissell, passed away after a long battle with multiple sclerosis on March 31, 2026. Born on July 19, 1947 in New Haven, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Annettia Bissell.

John lived a life full of simplistic and quiet joy. After his four years in the Unites States Air Force, John worked at Frito-Lay as a warehouse manager until his retirement. Following retirement, John devoted his time to his passions- sailing and gardening. Whether sailing out of the Milford Yacht Club on the sound, or planting vibrant roses for his wife, Mary, John was usually seen outdoors enjoying the sunshine.

Along with his wife of 55 years, Mary, John is survived by his brother-in-law, John Lovett Sr., his sister-in-law, Joan Lovett, and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Kenneth and Annettia, John is predeceased by his brother, Robert Bissell, his sister-in-law, Kathy, and his brother-in-law, Kevin Lovett.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. Interment and military honors will follow at Milford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The John Rigely Food Bank, Precious Blood Parish, 70 Gulf Street, Milford.
