Joseph F. Turechek

Mason with the Ansantawae Lodge #89 in Milford for 50 years

Joseph F. Turechek, Jr. age 82, of South Fallsburg, New York and formerly of Milford, entered into peaceful rest on September 21, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was the son of Joseph F. Turechek, Sr. and Pearl (Nowell) Turechek and was born on April 22, 1943, in Bridgeport. Joseph was a mason for the Ansantawae Lodge #89 for 50 years. Joseph was a custodian for the Milford Board of Education for many years, and prior was a truck driver with Teamsters Local 443. He was a great storyteller. Joseph was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Loch Sheldrake Hurleyville Gun Club and part of the Hurleyville Museum. He volunteered with the Sullivan County Animal Shelter. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Joseph is survived by his devoted daughters, Donna L. Vezina (Larry Matthews) of Milford, Jennifer Garcia (Tony) of Milford, Melissa Walkley (Tim) of Branford, and his son, Allen Turechek of Milford. He also leaves nine grandchildren, Allen Turechek (Jaymie), Kyle Turechek (Emily), Samantha Dorin (Richard), Brittney Pinon (Edward), Morgan Fletcher (Joseph), Mackenzie McLean, Jacob Walkley, Emelio Garcia and Lucia Garcia and three great grandchildren, Cecilia Pinon, Allen Turechek and Andrew Turechek and his brother, Robert George of Colorado and his sister, Janet Findlay of Stratford and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Phyllis Coffey, his sister, Vivian Dasilva and his brothers, John Turechek and Alan George.
