The Milford Public School district is pleased to announce Amanda Portoff, a student at Joseph A. Foran High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball for Kutztown University (Div. II), in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. Amanda will join the Golden Bears as a utility outfielder. Amanda’s family, friends, and staff recently gathered for the signing at Foran.

Amanda came up through the ranks beginning as a youngster playing softball in the Milford International Little League program. In 9th grade she began playing in the competitive travel circuit, first as an outfielder for Tradition Softball in Wallingford. The following year, she moved to the Connecticut Seahawks out of Trumbull, playing as a utility infielder, primarily at 3rd base. For the past two years, Amanda has played competitively for the Connecticut Hornets out of Branford at 3rd base.

That said, she is planning on majoring in Physics and Astronomy while in college and Kutztown had the exact program she was looking for.

“I am really excited about going to Kutztown,” Amanda commented. “They have a solid softball program and that is what I was looking for. In addition, they have a great science program at Kutztown and there is a wonderful opportunity for research – the fact they have a great softball program is ‘icing on the cake’ for me. I’m looking forward to getting started.”
