MILFORD – The Milford Public School district is pleased to announce Emma Longley, a senior at Joseph A. Foran High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend West Virginia University as a member of the Women’s Swimming and Diving team. Longley, a diving superstar during her years at Foran, is excited about the prospect of joining the Div. I ‘Mountaineers.’
A vibrant competitor, Longley has amassed an impressive record in interscholastic play, and has appeared at the Class M Girls Swimming and Diving State Championships, as well as the State Open, every year of her high school career.

At the Class M Diving championships, Longley placed 1st in both her junior and senior years at Foran. During the State Open, her record progressively improved over the years, with 5th place finish last month to round out her high school career.
Longley began her athletic journey not as a diver but as a gymnast, spending 10 years in the sport before changing direction in 8th grade to give diving a try. In the three years that followed, Longley developed her craft as a member of the Southern Connecticut State University youth club swimming and diving team. Later, she dove with the Yale University club team, where she would gain valuable experience.

Upon entering Foran High, Longley was immediately comfortable with the girls swimming and diving team, under the tutelage of Head Coach Kristin Skuches and Asst. Coach Meghan Condon. Additional diving instruction was delivered under the watchful eye of Diving Coach Pat Simon.
The West Virginia University team is a member of the Big 12 Conference, competing against colleges and universities mostly located in the Midwest (Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, and Texas Tech). Longley will join a squad predominantly comprised of seniors but she believe this is a great opportunity for her.
“I really can’t wait to begin,” Longley commented. “I look forward to competing at this new level and learning what I can from the coaches and my new teammates.”
Longley will pursue a degree in exercise physiology.
