Joseph John Licamele, Jr., 81, of Milford, beloved husband of Marie Phillips Licamele, passed away on October 31st, 2024. Born on July 4th, 1943, a true firecracker from Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (DeMonte) Licamele.
Joe, a proud graduate of Central Connecticut State University, went on to earn his Masters and Sixth year, proving that he was a lifelong learner. He dedicated 33 years to the Bridgeport School System as a teacher and administrator, shaping young minds and probably giving a few gray hairs to his colleagues.
When Joe wasn't in the classroom, you could find him on the golf course, perfecting his swing and enjoying a round with friends. He was also a Blackjack enthusiast, often sharing his winnings (and sometimes his losses) with his beloved Marie. He was fiercely protective of his family, always putting their safety and well-being above all else. Joe had a passion for travel, especially the many trips with his family and Punta Cana with Marie, where they soaked up the sun and made unforgettable memories.
Joe leaves behind two daughters, Lisa (Michael) Wywoda and Laura (Brian) Kozielski, who will forever cherish his sense of humor and loving nature. Papa Joe, also known as Joey, was adored by his six grandchildren: Ava Kozielski, Rachel Wywoda, Ella Kozielski, Demi Kozielski, Jaden Wywoda, and Declan Wywoda.
Joe is survived by his sister, JoAnne Collins, and several nieces and nephews who will always remember his warm smile and kind heart. Joe's legacy of love, laughter, and a little bit of luck at the Blackjack table will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, November 8th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A service will be celebrated at Cody-White at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
