JWC 37th Annual Citywide Spelling Bee

The Junior Woman's Club of Milford Hosted its Annual Spelling Bee at Milford City Hall

MILFORD- On Wednesday, April 26th, the Junior Woman's Club of Milford hosted the 37th Annual Citywide Spelling Bee for 5th and 6th graders at Milford City Hall. This year's Bee Master was Milford Public Library Director, Christine Angeli. Spelling Bee judges included Cindy Wolfe Boynton, writer and college professor, and Susan Glennon, Chairman of the Milford Board of Education. The top three winners of the spelling bee are as follows:

First Place: Josh Darivemula, Orange Ave. Elementary

Second Place: Jason Rosado, Orchard Hills Elementary

Third Place: Trixie Bredbeck, Calf Pen Meadow Elementary

Additional participants included: Kailea Morganweck, JFK Elementary; Landon Nash, East Shore Middle; Kingsley Cheng, Harborside Middle; Madiha Khan, Live Oaks Elementary; Justin Berendt, Mathewson Elementary; Genevieve Piccolo, Meadowside Elementary; Bridget Horne, Pumpkin Delight Elementary; Abigail Maciag, West Shore Middle, Avery Durand and JessieMae VanWilliams, St. Mary School.

The Junior Woman's Club of Milford is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded on the principles of promoting education, public health, philanthropy and service to the Milford community. Our programs include the Citywide Spelling Bee, Community Excellence Awards, Adopt-A-Spot, the Respect Campaign and much more. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is our Annual Touch-A-Truck held at Eisenhower Park in October.
