Knife Manufacturer Slated For Move To Former Subway Site In Milford

A German knife manufacturer has plans for the former Subway headquarters location after another tenant fell through, according to reports.

MILFORD, CT — A German knife manufacturer is moving its US headquarters to the former Subway site in Milford, according to WTNH News-8. Wüsthof is moving from Norwalk to a larger location at 325 Sub Way as the company continues to grow.

Wüsthof is known for its kitchen cutlery, which is sold at stores like Williams Sonoma and Crate & Barrel. The operation will include about 80 employees.

Demolition on the nearly 50-year-old Subway building began in early March, WTNH News-8 reported. It's expected that the new facility will be ready to open in September.

Previously, auto parts supplier FCP Euro was supposed to move onto the Subway property. But that move stalled and the company is considering moving to another town due to Milford's regulations prohibiting oil-storage tanks, Hearst Connecticut reported.

Subway has moved its headquarters to Shelton after the company was sold last year to Roark Capital, which owns Arby’s, Dunkin’ and Buffalo Wild Wings.
