Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Milford.

MILFORD, CT — The number of confirmed new coronavirus cases in Milford is currently at 241, according to the latest numbers from the state Department of Public Health. Milford officials have said seven residents have died as a result of complications from the new coronavirus, as reported by Hearst Connecticut.

Mayor Ben Blake announced the return of extended hours at the Transfer Station beginning April 11 and running through mid-December. The extended hours will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Regular weekday hours will remain the same (7 a.m. – 3 p.m.).

As a reminder, this program is for Milford residents only. The extended hours do not apply to commercial haulers. Visitors to the Transfer Station will be asked to present their vehicle registration at the gate. (To sign up for Milford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The Public Works Department also reminds residents that construction and demolition (C&D) materials will not be accepted at the Transfer Station. These items may be brought to Waste Conversion, 221 Old Gate Lane, Milford (203-882-5840) M-F, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. – 12 noon. This is a private company; therefore, residents are responsible for disposal costs.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the City will monitor community health conditions before determining whether the 2020 spring bulk trash pick-up moves forward in May, is postponed, canceled, or modified, officials said. Blake previously announced the following modifications to city operations, effective through May 31, 2020:
Parsons Government Center will be open to the public between 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Monday – Friday, BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to conduct all City business via phone, fax, mail, email or online. City Clerk, Tax Collector, and City Assessor each have drop boxes at the front entrance of Parsons for residents who need to drop-off materials.

All administrative fees in the Milford Assessor's Office are waived. Contact the Assessor's Office at 203-783-3215 or email Assessors@ci.milford.ct.us with all questions.
Postage fees associated with mailing Milford resident beach stickers are waived. Milford resident beach stickers for 2020 may be requested online utilizing the Tax Collector website at www.ci.milford.ct.us/tax-collector.
