MILFORD, CT — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Milford is currently at 456 and there have been 45 reported deaths as of Wednesday, April 29.

Mayor Ben Blake urged residents to continue to stay home and stay safe. He said all playgrounds, basketball courts and recreational facilities that do not allow for social distancing remain closed in Milford.

Blake said bike paths and walking trails remain open because "we want people to get out and exercise." He said exercise boosts a person's immune system but it is vital to always remain a proper social distance from other people.

City Health Director Deepa Joseph said the six feet apart "magic number" comes from if a person coughs or sneezes that is the necessary space one needs to be safely apart. She also said shared some tips with residents.

She said once you go out to the store for groceries, you should wash your hands for 20 seconds under warm water, and if you put your bags on the counters, make sure to wipe them down with a proper cleaning agent.

She said when you go for walks as a family it is still advisable to try and stay six feet apart.
