WWII Veteran, Larry was an architect who enjoyed painting, drawing, art appreciation, listening to music, and more.

Lawrence “Larry” Newman Argraves, 97 of Milford CT, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born on July 2, 1927, in Boston, MA, to the late Newman Argraves and Clara (Durepo) Argraves. He was the beloved husband of Lenore Argraves.
Larry proudly served his country in both the United States Navy during World War II as a Carpenter’s Mate 3rd Class and later as an Aviation Cadet in the U.S. Air Force. A dedicated scholar, he pursued higher education at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Yale University, and Southern Connecticut State University, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Larry built a fulfilling career in civil engineering and architecture, where his creativity and precision left a lasting impact.
In his personal life, he was a man of many passions—he found joy in painting, drawing, art appreciation, listening to music, and watching classic movies and comedies. Larry especially cherished time spent at his beach house and with his beloved family. A true lifelong learner, he approached the world with curiosity, warmth, and a deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms.

Larry is survived by his children: Gary Argraves, Bradley Argraves, Mark Argraves, Eliisa Argraves-Curran, Eric Argraves, and 3 stepchildren. As well as 22 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many additional beloved family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife, Lenore, he is predeceased by his son William S. Argraves and his sister Janice Argraves.
Friends and family may call from 9 am to 11 am on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Cody White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford CT 06460. Interment will follow at Milford Side Cemetery 1138 Racebrook Rd. Woodbridge, CT.
