Luz Celenia Toledo, 77, passed away on December 3, 2024.
Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Luz Celenia Toledo, 77 of Milford CT, passed away on December 3, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital while surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco Toledo. Luz was born on October 6, 1947, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Nabor Hernandez and Ramona Rodriguez Hernandez.
Luz’s incredible journey began in Puerto Rico before her family moved to Manhattan, NY, when she was just 2 years old. She spent much of her young adult life in the vibrant city, where she met the love of her life, Francisco, by chance during a grocery shopping trip. It was love at first sight, and the two soon married, becoming young newlyweds full of dreams. Together, they started their family and eventually settled in Milford, CT, to create a loving home.
Luz’s professional journey was one of determination and achievement. She dedicated over 30 years to Remington Shavers, working her way up from blueprints to becoming a lead designer and eventually a supervisor. When the company closed, Luz, ever driven, embraced a new challenge. In her 60s, she returned to school to earn her medical assistant certificate. She went on to proudly serve as part of the Smilow Cancer Center team until her retirement just a few years ago.

Beyond her professional success, Luz was the heart and soul of her family. As the beloved matriarch, she treated every family member as the apple of her eye. Known affectionately as "Grandma" or "Nana," she never missed a sports game, recital, or milestone event for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was a sanctuary for family gatherings, filled with warmth, laughter, and her unwavering love.
Luz’s deep faith was central to her life. A devoted parishioner of Saint Mary Church since 1979, she attended the Sunday 8:30 a.m. Mass without fail. She greeted fellow churchgoers with a warm smile, participated in numerous Bible studies, and lived her life trusting in God’s plan.
