Macy's Shoplifting Incident Escalates as Suspect Pulls a Knife: Milford Police

Milford police say the incident occurred after 4 p.m. Monday at the Westfield Connecticut Post mall.

Milford police say a shoplifting incident at Macy’s Monday afternoon quickly escalated into a scary situation.

Police said after 4 p.m. they responded to Macy’s at 1201 Boston Post Road on a report of a shoplifting.

Investigation led to the arrest of Patrick Stavola, 28, of Bishop Street in Waterbury, who is accused of taking $210 worth of merchandise from the store without paying for it, police said.

When Stavola was confronted by a lost prevention agency, he allegedly pulled out a knife and told the employee that he would stab him, police said.

Police found Stavola shortly after he was fleeing the scene and he was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree threatening, sixth-degree larceny, and second-degree breach of peace.

He was held in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
