MILFORD, CT — A man is facing accusations that he burglarized vehicles and stole thousands of dollars' worth of power tools, according to police.

Police received reports of vehicle burglaries in the area of Old Gate Lane on Nov. 4.

Melvin Rodriguez, 34, of Bridgeport, is accused of breaking into the vehicles and stealing "a significant number of expensive power tools" along with a coconspirator, police said.

About $5,690 worth of tools were stolen from a construction truck parked at a construction site. A total of $7,185 worth of tools was taken from a trailer parked at 291 Old Gate Lane as well.

An arrest warrant was issued and police took custody of Rodriguez on Thursday at court in Hartford where he was present for an unrelated matter.

Rodriguez was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny.

Bond was set at $50,000. He was taken to Milford Superior Court on Friday.
