Man Charged With Stealing Two Christmas Trees

A man has been charged with stealing two Christmas trees at the in Milford, police said.
An officer spotted a "suspicious pickup truck" in the parking lot of Whole Foods on the Boston Post Road around 3:45 a.m. Thursday -- "with a Christmas tree in the bed of the vehicle," according to police.
"Investigation revealed that (James) Roberts had taken two trees, a wreath and a tree stand from the outside sale display area of the store, which was closed at the time," police said in a press release.

"Police also found a large knife in the driver's door panel of the vehicle," according to the press release.
Roberts, 25, of West Haven, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, simple trespass, weapons in a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance, and failure to display plates properly, according to police.

He was held in lieu of $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court Jan. 3, police said.
