Man Damages Downtown Restaurant, Throws Pieces Of Cinder Blocks At Cars: Milford Police

The accused also resisted arrest and was taken into custody with the use of a Taser, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A Milford man is accused of damaging a downtown restaurant and throwing pieces of cinder blocks at vehicles, police said. The accused also resisted arrested and was subdued with a Taser, police said.

On Sept. 11, 2017, Milford Police officer Brock Roggie observed a male causing damage to a New Haven Avenue restaurant by beating on the door and smashing small potted plants in front of the restaurant, police said. Roggie then observed the male throwing pieces of cinder blocks at vehicles as they drove by, police said.

The male, John Katrick, 47, of Home Acres Avenue, began approaching Roggie in an aggressive manner with a screw driver clenched in his hand, police said. Katrick was ordered to drop the screwdriver and get on the ground, at which point Katrick attempted to get into his vehicle, police said. Katrick eventually was tased when he once again came at the officer in an aggressive manner, police said.

Katrick was then taken into custody, and it was learned that he had caused approximately $500 worth of damage to the building, police said.

Katrick is being held on $2,500 bond to appear in Milford Court on September 11, 2017.
