Man Displays a Knife in Milford After Being Confronted Over Stolen Jacket: Police

Milford police say the man allegedly swiped the jacket from a car in a Walmart parking lot and when confronted he threatened to use a knife.

Milford police say on Sunday they were informed of a robbery in the parking lot of Walmart at 1365 Boston Post Road involving a knife being displayed and threatened to be used.

Investigation led to the arrest of Justin Carey, 22, of North Smithfield in Rhode Island, who is accused of taking a jacket out of an unlocked vehicle and allegedly began to walk away with it, police said.

The owner of the jacket saw Carey with the jacket, approached him and asked for it back, police said.

Carey then pulled a knife out of his pocket and told the man he would not give it back, police said.

Police found Carey inside of Walmart and he was arrested and he was also combative with officers, police added.

Carey is charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree threatening, sixth-degree larceny, and interfering and resisting arrest.

He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
