Man killed after falling from highway overpass, State Police say

State Police said they responded to Route 15 southbound in the area of Exit 58 in Woodbridge on reports of a body in the roadway Tuesday evening. A man, Carmelo Agosto, 42, of New Haven, was found in the right lane with injuries consistent with being hit by a car, State Police said.

Investigators said Agosto was involved in a previous collision on the Route 114 overpass and "for unknown reasons the victim fell from the overpass into the right travel lane" when he was struck by a car driven by an Orange resident. Agosto was taken to a hospital, and he died as a result of his injuries.

State Police are investigating. Anyone with information is urged to call them at 203-393-4200 and ask for Trooper McCue.

Firefighter found dead at his home

Firefighters are mourning the death of Ralph Geter, a 27-year veteran of the Norwalk Fire Department, who was found deceased in his home Tuesday, the Norwalk Hour reports. No other details regarding the cause of death have been released. The union told the Hour that “We are all in shock and speechless about this great loss." (Read more at the Norwalk Hour).

Business burglarized twice in the same day

Kenia Lowery, owner of the Black Corner Store in New Haven, said her business was robbed twice on Tuesday morning. At 4 a.m. Tuesday, a group stole an ATM from the store and an hour later someone stole numerous items from the business and caused significant damage, Fox 61 reports.

The owners are known for their volunteer efforts in the community, as they disseminate free meals and clothes to those in need. (Read more at Fox 61 which includes video of the burglary).
