Officers searched the area and found an SUV in the parking lot of the Shoreline Motel next door that matched a description of the suspect vehicle.
Police spoke with the SUV's owner, Samuel Carmon, 69, of New Haven, who was staying at the motel and was dressed similarly to the suspect.
Carmon provided officers an ID from his vehicle's glovebox which police said contained "multiple wads of cash with large denominations as well as surgical gloves and masks like the ones worn during the robbery."
Police seized the SUV and multiple other items as evidence.
Carmon was taken into custody and charged with first-degree robbery. He was held on $500,000 bond and taken to court Feb. 24.
