Man Stole Dead Person's Car: Milford Police

Police said they used DNA evidence to help make an arrest.

MILFORD, CT — A Stratford man, Melvin Person, 59, of Hollister Street is accused of stealing a dead man's car, Milford police said.

On Sept. 26, Pearson turned himself in on outstanding warrant, police said. On October 5, 2019, Milford Police responded to the Devon Motel, 438 Bridgeport Avenue, on the report of an unresponsive male who was later declared deceased, police said.

An investigation was conducted by Detective Sergeant Douglass Youd and this death was determined not to be a homicide, police said. During the investigation it was found that the vehicle belonging to the deceased was missing and determined to be stolen, police said.

The vehicle was later located, processed by detectives, and DNA linked Person to the vehicle, police said.

Larceny 3rd Degree

He was released on a PTA and will appear in Milford Court on Nov. 2.
