Man Tried To Swipe $6,400 In Sunglasses From Milford Store: Police

A man was charged recently with attempting to steal $6,402 worth of sunglasses and assaulting an employee, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A man is facing charges after police say he attempted to steal $6,402 worth of sunglasses earlier this year.

The alleged crime occurred at the Sunglass Hut in the mall in March. An employee attempted to stop the theft and the man is accused of assaulting the employee.

The 53-year-old East Haven man ended up getting away with $200 worth of sunglasses, police said.

He was charged June 19 with third-degree robbery, third-degree assault, sixth-degree larceny, and criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny.

Bond was set at $25,000. The man was scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court on June 20.
