Mayoral Debate to be Held Tuesday

All announced candidates for the office of mayor in Milford have confirmed they will be attending a debate Tuesday night at the First United Church of Christ (Congregational), according to the Plymouth Men's Club, which is sponsoring the event.

All three candidates been invited to present their platforms and answer questions from citizens at a candidates night scheduled for Sept. 20.
 
The event is open to the public at no charge. It will be held in the sanctuary of the First United Church of Christ (Congregational), 34 West River Street, Milford, starting at 8:00p.m.
 
Traditionally, the Plymouth Men's Club has hosted the first debate in each Milford mayor's contest for the last 30 years.  The club, known for its civic involvement, will draw again upon the skill of Arthur Stowe, a club member, to moderate the event.
 
Club President Harry Byrne said invitations were issued to Benjamin Blake, the Democratic candidate, Bernard F. Joy, Jr., the Republican contender, and Rocco Frank, the Independent Party candidate -- and all three have confirmed attendance.
 
Each candidate will be provided an opportunity to present his platform.  Questions, submitted in writing from those members of the public present, will be fielded by each debate participant.
 
A dinner, starting at 6:30p.m. at the church, is open to the public at $10 each.  Reservations are limited. Please call Harry Byrne at 203-874-1870 to inquire about whether dinner has been booked.

Once again, the public is invited to the debate at 8 p.m. free of charge.
