Obituary: Michael J. McCarthy, 69, Of Milford
He retired from Sikorsky where he worked as a machine operator for over 35 years.
Michael John McCarthy, age 69, lifelong resident of Milford and beloved husband of Carol Ann (Sala) McCarthy, passed away at home on Sunday, January 26, 2025 surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. Michael was born in Milford on September 16, 1955 to Virginia Rice Camputaro of Milford and the late Melvin Eugene McCarthy.
Michael loved animals and cherished his cats and fish. He loved making crafts and DIY projects, especially out of the bamboo that grew in his yard. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed finding the best deals at local book sales. He was a Yankees fan. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Sikorsky where he worked as a machine operator for over 35 years.
In addition to his devoted wife and mother, Michael is survived by his cherished daughter, Lauren McCarthy (Andrew Apicelli), siblings, John McCarthy (Sharon), Donna Standish, and Deborah Field (Gregory), brothers-in-law, Charles Sala (Ada) and Robert Sala (Paula) and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Michael is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ronald Standish and by his stepfather, Frank Camputaro.
Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in THE DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
