Michael Paul "Mike" Mariani
Mike will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and quiet generosity.

Michael Paul Mariani, age 81, of Mamaroneck, NY, entered eternal rest on February 23, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
Born on August 25, 1944, in New Rochelle, NY, Mike was the son of the late Louis and Marion (Vergara) Mariani and the brother of the late Elissa (Mariani) Maccrone. He grew up in Mamaroneck, NY, and graduated from Pace University in 1970, beginning a lifelong commitment to education, mentorship, and community service.
That same year, he started his career at Mount Vernon High School, where he taught special education until his retirement in 1997. With patience, humor, and an enduring belief in the potential of every student, Mike made a profound and lasting impact on countless young lives. During his years at Mount Vernon, he developed a deep love for the school’s boys basketball program. A devoted fan, he regularly attended Knights games, even during his retirement.

As a swim instructor and scuba diver, he was most at home by the water. For 38 years, Mike was a beloved and reassuring presence at the Beach Point Club in Mamaroneck, where he served as Waterfront Director from 1980 to 2017. Whether teaching children to swim, mentoring young lifeguards, or organizing waterfront activities, Mike led with enthusiasm and a calm and steady guidance, becoming lifelong friends with both staff and members.
He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America and the American Red Cross. After losing loved ones to cancer, he transformed his grief into purpose through his work with Swim Across America. As a board member, he helped organize fund-raising swims throughout Westchester County. True to his generous spirit, Mike didn’t just ask others to support the cause, he inspired family and friends to join him in the pool, recruiting swimmers and donors alike.

He will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and quiet generosity. Whether in the classroom, on the waterfront, or cheering in the stands, he generously and unabashedly supported and inspired the people and communities he loved.
Mike is survived by his beloved partner of 19 years, Debra Bradshaw, of Mamaroneck; his children, Michael Mariani of Seattle, WA; Christopher Mariani (Carol) and Sherri Franzman (Marc), of Milford, CT; and his seven grandchildren. Poppa Mikey was a doting grandfather to Samantha, Olivia, and Ella Franzman; Siena and Bianca Mariani; and Amelia and Luca Mariani, attending their school plays, sporting events, dance & cheer competitions and graduations in his signature madras plaid jacket. .
Mike will be celebrated in a Catholic Mass on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 18 Cherry Avenue, Larchmont, NY. As Mike would have wanted, please dress in bright and vibrant colors and patterns to celebrate his life.
