Writer Turns Milford's Slogan into Slur

A very complimentary article about our great city hit the web earlier this week, but there's something about it that I just couldn't shake -- so I must share.

The article on the "Stock Finance News" is headlined: "Milford CT: Greatest Places For Your Dwelling And Family in Connecticut." Not bad.

But the lead or opening paragraph reads: "Milford Connecticut is named 'A Small Metropolis with a Large Coronary heart.' "

Last time I checked (and believe me, I checked!) the slogan was: "A Small City With A Big Heart."

That aside, the article seems quite positive.

It says in part:

-- "Sailboats, yachts and motorboats drift out and in of this scenic harbor city."

-- "A well-liked vacation spot for saltwater enjoyable, (sic) Milford has a number of marinas, boat launches and metropolis beaches." (Not the best construction of a sentence, if you ask me.)

-- "Standard outside destinations for you to see are the Silver Sands State Park and the Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center at Milford Point." (Outright inaccurate. Those destinations are within city lines.)

Although it appears the writer of the piece doesn't know the technical details of Milford very well, I got to give him credit for capturing the general essence of our community.

Still, I just can't get past that "coronary" reference. Honestly, I'm having a small coronary about it.
