Milford Board Takes Action On 3 Coastal Home Projects
The Milford Planning and Zoning Board weighed in on three single-family home projects at its most recent meeting.
MILFORD, CT — The Milford Planning and Zoning Board approved three coastal area site plan applications, clearing the way for new single-family homes in its meeting Tuesday.
The board voted to approve a coastal area site plan for 20-22 Maddox Ave., allowing Maddox Avenue LLC to build a three-story, 2,500-square-foot single-family home on two merged lots in a residential zone.
Attorney Thomas Lynch, representing owner Matthew Blackwell, said the home would meet floodplain requirements, with a first-floor elevation at 13 feet and breakaway flood vents. City Planner David Sulkis said the proposal was zoning compliant.

The approval included conditions requiring plan updates to satisfy the city engineer. One board member voted against the motion; no reason was stated on the record.
The board unanimously approved a plan for 81 Melba St., where existing structures will be demolished and replaced with a single-family home.

Builder Tony Denorfia said the project would remove longstanding nonconformities and meet flood and zoning standards. Sulkis said no adverse impacts to coastal resources were anticipated.
A third application for 92 Hawley Ave. in the Woodmont neighborhood was also unanimously approved with conditions. A contractor said remaining issues raised by the city engineer would be addressed during construction.
In other business, a board liaison reported his election as chair of the South Central Regional Council of Governments, and members discussed issuing a request for proposals for zoning and housing planning assistance.
