Milford Drug Bust Yields 10 Pounds of Marijuana

A routine traffic stop results in the arrest of a Bridgeport man.


A officer's keen sense of smell led to a drug bust of 10 pounds of marijuana yesterday.

Police said that members of of the department's Police Tactical Unit conducted a motor vehicle stop for a violation on Schoolhouse Road. During the stop, detectives reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search turned up 10 pounds of packaged marijuana, police said.

The operator of the vehicle, who police identified as Bryan Denton, 43 of Bridgeport, was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school.

Denton was release from police custody after posting a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court on April 24.
