MILFORD, CT — Unaffiliated candidate Wally Hauck, 70, is running for Board of Education in Milford.

The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

I am very worried about the future of our country, our State, and our local Community.
I want our children (our most important asset) to have the very best opportunity for success. I want them to appreciate the genius of Martin Luther King who reminded us that it’s character that matters and not color. I don’t want them separated by race but instead united in the love of the ideas of freedom and equal opportunity for all.

I want them to know the truth (full history) of America and not indoctrinated in a philosophy of hatred for it. I want our children to deeply understand and appreciate the principles upon which America was founded namely the God given/Natural rights of Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness. I want them to appreciate the genius of the Constitution, how it helps America to continuously improve, and reject the idea it needs to fundamentally transform.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

The outcomes of the current Board of Education demonstrates how their priorities are NOT the priorities of the parents and/or the community.

Milford graduates have a 69% reading proficiency and 58% math proficiency (at grade level) but 93% graduation. How can the current BOE explain this contradiction, while spending money and time on Critical Race Theory and/or Social Emotional Learning that does nothing to improve proficiency?

The curriculum is destructive to the attitude and performance of our students and needs an overhaul. The racially charged information they are forcing on students and teachers is damaging relationships and cooperation, and those are necessary to optimize learning.

Catholic school enrollment is rising and homeschooling is increasing. The BOE has a set of policies that are driving its most important customers (parents) away from their services. This is a formula for failure and budget dysfunction.

Accomplishments:

For 26 years I have trained business leaders to create exceptional customer service cultures, improve leadership skills, and employee performance and financial performance.

Other issues:

The current administration is aligned with the Left, which wants to silence parents because they are a nuisance and a barrier to indoctrinating students with a Marxist philosophy that is inconsistent with our Constitution and our Declaration of Independence and Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream Speech." The Left wants to undermine everything that has made the US the most powerful and successful nation in the world. The curriculum reflects this strategy, and it must be stopped and reversed

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I have lived in the city for 21 years. My company helps leaders of businesses to attract and keep customers. The school system needs these skills. Our most important asset (our kids) are being abused with CRT and SEL.
