Milford Elks Hosting Free Basketball Contest For Kids In November

MILFORD, CT — The Milford Elks Lodge 1589 will host its annual Hoop Shoot, a free basketball free-throw contest for children ages 8 to 13, on Sunday, Nov. 15.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Mary's School Gymnasium, 72 Gulf St. in Milford. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

The contest is open to boys and girls who are ages 8 to 13 as of April 1, 2027.

Trophies will be awarded by age group, and first-place winners will advance to regional competition, with opportunities to compete at the state and national levels.

Walk-ins are welcome, and participation takes approximately five to 10 minutes per child.

"This supportive, family-friendly event is all about building confidence, making friends, and creating unforgettable memories on the Free Throw Line," a description for the event reads. "Whether you're a budding pro, just love shooting hoops, or it's your first time touching a basketball, we want YOU there!"
