  • Our mother Kathy has had a tough life. It seems for her whole life she has been in a caretaker role. Whether it be for her father, her husband, her children and even her in-laws. She also was a caretaker for many people who she didn’t know but that she eventually did get to know well by working in a soup kitchen right here in Milford, the Beth-EL Shelter. While she had eight children at home she was taking care of, she also took care of many others and their children.

Why do you feel is this person an Everyday Hero?

  • About a month ago she was driving down the road in Milford and saw a couple walking. One of them did not have a coat and it was one of the coldest days we have had. My mom turned around and gave her the coat off her back and the $5 she had on her to get a cup of coffee to warm up. My mom doesn’t ask for help. She just keeps going. She is my everyday hero.
