MILFORD, CT The Downtown Milford Farmers Market is back for the season with a new emphasis on youth and family-friendly activities.

The market opened June 7 at Wasson Field and runs every Saturday through Oct. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Along with fresh produce and local vendors, this year brings a new program aimed at children ages 3 to 12.

The “Piglets Market” is a 20-week series of hands-on activities designed to help kids learn about agriculture, farming, and healthy food. Organized in partnership with The Giggling Pig of Milford, the program has already attracted more than 150 participants just two weeks into the season.

Organizers say the changes are part of a broader effort to make the market more engaging for families. On opening day, several children helped run their families’ booths, and many more took part in market activities.

First launched in 2005, the Downtown Milford Farmers Market has become a weekly gathering spot for residents. Over the years, it’s grown to feature not only produce and goods from local farms and small businesses, but also live music, crafts, and community engagement.
