Milford Firefighter Donates Kidney to Save a Life

The long-time firefighter is donating a kidney today to a man he barely knows.

For the past 24 years, Milford Fire Department Battalion Chief Ronald Wetmore has been working to attend to those in need, often during trying times.

So those who know Wetmore’s selfless nature say they aren’t surprised to learn that today he’s donating a kidney to save a man he barely knows, WTNH News 8 reports.

Today, Wetmore is donating his kidney to George Jerolman, who would likely not have lived until Christmas without a new kidney, News 8 reports.

Wetmore saw Jerolman’s story in his Facebook feed and the rest was history.

Wetmore said when he learned he was a perfect match the decision was an easy one to make.

On Wetmore’s personal Facebook page he receives numerous comments of support including one person who wrote, “Wow you’re a good man...truly selfless.”
