Milford Health Officials Issue Statement On EEE Virus
Milford Health Department officials released a statement Friday afternoon.
MILFORD, CT — The Milford Health Department released a statement Friday concerning the deadly EEE virus that has resulted in the death of two Connecticut residents.
"It is very important to continue to protect yourself from mosquitoes, which causes illnesses like EEE and West Nile Virus, until the first heavy frost," said Deepa Joseph, Director of Health for the Milford Health Department. "The Milford Health Department's Mosquito Management Program will continue to monitor and apply mosquito larvicide to mosquito breeding sites throughout the city and we urge everyone to take precautions against mosquito bites and to maintain their properties so that they prevent mosquitoes from breeding."

- Minimize time spent outdoors at dusk and dawn
- When it is necessary to be outdoors, use a mosquito repellant that has been registered by the EPA such as DEET
- Wear shoes, socks, long pants and long-sleeved shirts
- Be sure door and window screens are tight-fitting and in good repair
- Use mosquito netting when sleeping outdoors
- Cover infant carriers with mosquito netting.
