Milford Hospital Makes 'Deep Cuts' To Stay Afloat: Report

Hospital officials praised its nearly 600 employees for agreeing to the concessions.

MILFORD, CT — Milford Hospital has instituted "deep cuts" in an effort to stay financially afloat, the New Haven Register's Luther Turmelle reports.

It may take up to a year before the state signs off on the anticipated merger between Bridgeport and Milford hospitals and Milford Hospital made the cuts in an effort to avoid bankruptcy prior to the merger, the Register reports.

The budget cuts include: reductions to some employee salaries, which range from 5 to 30 percent, cuts to vacation time, and the hospital stopped making matching contributions to certain retirement plans, Turmelle reports for the New Haven Register.
