Milford Man Charged With Attempted Murder: Police

Police say the accused punched and strangled the victim and he also allegedly brandished a knife during the attack.

MILFORD, CT — A Milford man is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and is accused of attempted murder early Saturday morning, police said. Police say the accused strangled and assaulted the female victim and also brandished a knife while a 2-year-old child was present.

Police said at 7:45 a.m. Saturday officers responded to a Milford residence on the report of a threatening with a knife. Officers responded to the residence and learned the offender, Patrick Kiraly, 27, of Colonial Avenue, Milford, had gotten into a verbal argument with a female inside the residence and at one point punched the female in the face and then began strangling her using his hands, police said.

The female recalls almost blacking out before another male in the residence heard the commotion and separated the two, police said. Kiraly then pulled a pocket knife and threatened the male with the knife, police said. The male told Kiraly to leave, at which point Kiraly picked up his 2 year-old child and left the residence to go to another Milford residence, police said. The male then called 911.

Officers responded to the residence Kiraly had gone to and took custody of him, police said. A family member also responded and took custody of the 2 year-old child, police said.
