Milford Man Charged With Unlawful Discharge Of Weapon: Police
A Milford man is accused of creating a fictitious story about the incident, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A man is being charged after he created a fictitious story about a man firing a gun in his home, according to police.
Police responded to a Foran Road home on Sunday. Douglas Branez, 32, had contacted police to report that someone entered his home, stole a gun, and "fled through an opening created by a gunshot that Branez stated he made," police said.
Police then received another call reporting a disturbance outside involving an unknown person.

Police arrived and found Branez, who said that a person armed with a gun ran toward Foran High School. Officers searched the area.
Dispatch told officers that Branez was still on the phone talking about being armed with a gun. Officers then saw a man walking toward them who was later identified as Branez.

As he got closer, officers saw a gun tucked into the waistband of his pants. Police removed the gun from Branez and searched him, finding a second magazine on him.
Branez appeared "erratic, unstable, and had delusional speech," according to police.
An investigation found that Branez's story was fictitious, according to police. Police searched his home and found a gun on the floor and a bullet hole through the rear slider of the home.
Branez was charged with unlawful discharge of firearms, first-degree reckless endangerment, and breach of peace.
His bond was set at $50,000. He appeared in court Tuesday.
