Milford Man Raising Money For Restaurants, Essential Workers
Nearly $1,500 has been raised and it will be used to purchase meals from local restaurants and deliver the food to essential employees.
MILFORD, CT — A life-long Milford resident, Matthew D. Glennon, has led an effort to help raise nearly $1,500 which will be used to purchase meals from local restaurants for delivery to essential service workers - hospitals, EMS, fire, police, public works, etc. - in Milford and surrounding areas.
Glennon who began a GoFundMe page last week told Patch that "The idea is to meet two needs at once - supporting restaurants and our essential workers - in the simplest way possible. I am a lifelong Milford resident, work at Berchem Moses in downtown Milford, am on the Board of the Milford Chamber of Commerce, and am a former restaurant worker, so I felt the need to step up to help my city as much as possible and knew we need to move quickly."
"Obviously we’re in an unprecedented and fluid situation so some details are being worked through as we go, but the plan is to spread the donations out between as many restaurants and essential workers as possible. I have a list of the open restaurants and I’ll be reaching out to the various restaurants and essential services to coordinate bulk orders to be sure they have the supplies and need before delivery. I also have a few volunteers willing to help with deliveries if needed. All receipts will be shared online and in the event there is extra money we’ll find a related charity to donate to," Glennon said.
