Milford Man Tries to Steal Moped, Runs Off When Homeowner Arrives: Police
Milford police said the incident occurred around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

MILFORD, CT — A Milford man who was trying to steal a moped not only came away empty handed when the homeowner arrived but he also was arrested too, police said.
Police said officers responded to the area of North and Walnut streets on a report of an attempted theft of a moped Tuesday at 3 a.m.
Investigation led to the arrest of Michael Torento, of Lenox Avenue, who was trying to steal the moped but he was scared off and could not take it because the homeowner arrived home, police said.

Torento and a juvenile ran off, police said.
Torento is charged with criminal attempt to commit fourth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal trespass.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 13.
