Milford Mom and Dad Evacuate with Two Kids [VIDEO]

They were headed to mom's best friend's house in Seymour.

The police had been riding around the Hillside area announcing the streets city officials had ordered evacuated becoming of Hurricane Irene's expected arrival.

Shortly thereafter, the Banicks could be seen outside their home getting ready to bolt.

Billy Banick boarded up the garage doors while his wife, Colleen Banick piled the two kids -- Liam, 5, and Caelan, 2 -- into the car.

They were heading toward Colleen Banick's best friend's house in Seymour.

Besides the announcement from the patrol car, which the Banicks undoubtedly heard from their home, Colleen Banick said the city had given them an automated phone call telling to evacuate. Others received text messages.

"We have two little one, so we were planning to leave anyway," she said.

A pajama party is planned.

"We're making cupcakes," Colleen Banick said.

Then, they plan to return to Milford.

"We're planning to come home tomorrow," Billy Banick said, as he banged one of the last nails into wood to secure the garage door.
