Milford PD Gets $67k From State For Body Camera Equipment

The Milford Police Department will be reimbursed by the state for the purchase of body cameras and related equipment.

MILFORD, CT — The Milford Police Department will receive nearly $67,000 from the state to reimburse the purchase of body cameras, dash cameras and video storage devices. Funding was approved at a recent state Bond Commission meeting.

Milford is among nine departments that will receive a total of more than $917,000 for body cameras and related equipment.

Another $277,500 was approved to design bulkhead repairs at the state Bureau of Aquaculture in Milford.

State Sen. James Maroney (D-Milford) welcomed the approved funding.

"Dash cameras and body cameras help improve officer safety and increase evidence quality," he said in a statement. "And, funding allocated to the Bureau of Aquaculture will help upgrade the environment for those employed. We need to make sure our employees feel valued when they come to work and with improved working conditions, it will have a significant impact on morale and productivity."
