Milford Police Announce Wal-Mart Robbery Arrest: BREAKING

The robbery was reported last month at the Boston Post Road Wal-Mart. The suspect claimed to have a gun at the time of the robbery.

Milford, CT — Milford police have charged a man who they say is behind last month's robbery at Wal-Mart.

Police said on Friday Milford Police and Detectives from the FBI Safe Streets Task Force took custody of Robert Covington, 25, of 77 Whalley Ave., New Haven.

Through an extensive investigation, Covington was developed as the suspect in the Wal-Mart robbery at 1365 Boston Post Road on June 16.

He is charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit both larceny and robbery.

Covington was unable to post $100,000 bond. The armed robbery occurred at 7:40 a.m. on June 16.

At the time of the incident, police said a black male wearing all black clothing, a backwards black baseball hat and headphones entered Walmart went to the service desk and implied that he had a handgun in his waistband and demanded money from the clerk.

The man was seen fleeing the store through the front door and running west across the parking lot, police said at the time. The suspect possibly entered a light-colored 4-door vehicle waiting in the area.
