Milford Police Chief Thankful for Outpouring of Support for the Police Department
Police Chief Keith Mello details the community's generosity toward its police officers this past holiday season.

MILFORD, CT — During a recent Board of Police Commissioners meeting several police officers were mentioned for going above and beyond the call of duty. Also Police Chief Keith Mello thanked the community for its support and noted the well wishes and gifts received this holiday season were the most he's ever seen.
Chief Mello noted the gifts of food and packaged good and gift cards delivered to headquarters during the holiday season had never been that great in year’s past. He added residents and businesses took the opportunity to voice their thanks and support to the Milford Police Dept, meeting minutes state.

Various other donations of food/pies/cookies/cards/gift cards during holiday season – Chief Mello acknowledged the many gifts of food that was brought to the Department during the holidays. He stated one local restaurant donated a full dinner, brought to headquarters, for each officer on duty on Christmas Eve. Chief Mello added he has never seen anything like that in the past and was pleased with this show of gratitude and thanks for our officers.

- Damien O’Connor – 63 Clark Hill Rd., Mfd. – referred to incident occurring on 11/10/16 at neighbor’s home where one of the residents at that address had suddenly died. He acknowledged and thanked the officers who responded noting he was impressed with their professionalism and compassion. (Officers Eddy, Napolitano, Holder, Deida, Eddy, Beauvais, Barbour and Mahoney.
- Chief Stephen Clark – Newington Police Dept. – thanked Officers Hoff & Ness for their participation in the Annual Officer Peter Lavery Memorial Motorcycle Run.
- Individual who finds occasional shelter at Beth El – thanked Officers Eddy, Groves and Mills who responded to a disturbance at the shelter.
- Dom Juliano – resident – thanked Milford Police Dept. while waiting to be seated at a restaurant someone stole wife’s wallet and ran out of the restaurant. He noted that although this was a minor incident compared to others, he acknowledged and thanked officers who responded noting they were professional and kind. (Officers Bodnar, Holder & Mahoney).
- Hearts of Hope, Mathewson School – letter explaining students have initiated Hearts of Hope program at Mathewson and those students were happy to send heart ornaments with special messages to each officer in the Department.
- Megan Altomare, Exec. Director – Boys & Girls Club – thanked the Department for their dedication and support of the Pumpkins on the Pier Event, as well as the assistance of the Citizens Police Academy.
- O’Connor & Sullivan Family – expressed gratitude for police escort at funeral of family member.
