Milford Police Officer Fired After Just Weeks On The Job: Report

The new officer was arrested on a warrant earlier this month, police said.

MILFORD, CT — Eric Hoff, 25, of Plains Road, who was a newly hired Milford Police officer has been fired after he is accused of leaving the scene of an accident and not reporting it, the Milford Mirror reports.

Hoff was arrested on a warrant on Aug. 21 for the July 27 accident, Milford Police said. Hoff is charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive right. Milford Police posted Hoff's arrest as part of their daily police log on their website.

Police said in a news release that "Hoff is accused of leaving the scene of a single car motor vehicle accident on July 27, 2019 on Pepes Farms Road." He was given a court date of Sept. 19.

The Mirror reports that Hoff's vehicle, a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was found down an embankment and that there was damage to a pole. A friend picked Hoff up at the scene, according to the Mirror. Hoff initially denied the allegations, the Mirror reports.
