Milford Residents Mobilizing Against Massive Proposed Affordable Housing Complex

A petition drive is underway urging Milford to reject the proposed Bic Drive apartment complex, and a date has been set for the vote.

Last night the Milford Planning and Zoning Board was scheduled to vote on whether to approve a proposed 257-unit affordable housing complex at 460 Bic Drive.

But of course weather got in the way, and the meeting has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. March 11 at Milford City Hall. The meeting is open to the public, and a vote on the controversial proposal is expected that night, zoning officials said.

And in case you missed it, numerous Milford residents oppose the project, and a petition has been launched urging the Planning and Zoning Board to reject the proposal.

The purpose of this petition is to adequately represent the concerns of neighbors in the area around Naugatuck Avenue and Bic Drive; and their objections to the proposed 257 apartments to be built on 460 Bic Drive.

This will dramatically and negatively impact people living in Milford, Connecticut, especially those living in the immediate neighborhood and/or at (JFK elementary school (due to traffic concerns)). The proposed project of this land would have an immensely negative effect on our property value, traffic, safety, the quality of life in our neighborhood and does not fit in with the surrounding single family homes on Naugatuck Avenue and side streets or the large commercial buildings on Bic Drive. There will not be adequate parking in the complex, which will bring over flow cars to park on the very busy streets of Bic Drive and Naugatuck Ave causing very unsafe conditions.

We live in a Republic, and under the City Charter, and state and Federal Constitution our Republic clearly spells out that the Common Good along with others not infringing on the peace and tranquility of their neighbors and community is a reasonable and just use of our laws. Garden Homes Residential will be infringing on OUR peace and tranquility.
