Milford Schools Consider Adding Armed Security Guards: Report
The district is considering adding armed security guards at some schools as part of a proposed budget, according to a report.
MILFORD, CT — The school district is considering adding armed security officers at its eight elementary schools as well as at an alternative high school, Hearst Connecticut Media reported.
The district currently has uniformed officers at its middle and high schools. The new proposal would cost $576,000 and is included in the proposed $118.9 million budget for the 2026-27 school year, according to Hearst.
School officials said there is a full-time need for a security officer at The Academy, an alternative high school. They also said there is a need to increase security at elementary schools.
