Dear Members of the Milford Public Schools Community,

Last evening, the Milford Public Schools released a letter to district parents advising them that there would be an increased police presence at district schools starting today (9/13/2022). This decision was made as a result of the collaboration between the Milford Public Schools and the Milford Police Department.

This decision was made due to information shared with us during the treatment of a young teenage patient who is under the care of mental health professionals. This patient is not a student in the district but does live in Milford, and the mental health professionals do not classify this patient as a threat. There were no specific threats made against any of the schools in the district.

Out of an abundance of caution and to provide comfort for students and staff, there will be an increased presence by our officers.

Thank you for your support as we continue to work together to keep our school communities safe.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anna M. Cutaia, Superintendent
Milford Public Schools
Keith Mello, Chief of Police
Milford Police Department
