Milford Sears Announces Closing Date, Layoff Numbers
Dozens will lose jobs when the Milford location closes later this year.

MILFORD, CT — A total of 69 Milford Sears employees will lose their jobs come Dec. 31 as the company declared bankruptcy and announced a number of store closures across the country.
Sears notified the state Department of Labor that the layoffs will take place on the same day the store closes its doors.
The Sears Waterford location will also close as part of a wave of 142 closures for the iconic retailer. Previously the Sears Waterbury location closed. It still has locations in Danbury, Meriden and Manchester.

The company is looking to sell its remaining stores, which number around 700. Last year it sold its popular Craftsman brand.
