Thieves Led Police On Chase, Struck Multiple Cars: Milford Police

Two people were arrested on allegations that they stole items from a store, then led police on a chase and hit three vehicles, police said.

MILFORD, CT — Two people are facing accusations that they shoplifted $353 worth of merchandise, then led police on a dangerous chase, striking three vehicles in the process, according to police.

Police were called to the Big Y at 150 Boston Post Road on May 22 for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Police arrived and saw a man get into his vehicle and take off.

Police said they attempted a motor vehicle stop when the vehicle fled onto Boston Post Road, driving recklessly before ultimately hitting three vehicles.

The man then fled on foot and was taken into custody, according to police. A woman was also taken into custody.

Tasha Johnson, 40, of Bridgeport was found to have six active warrants out for her arrest for failing to appear in court, according to police. Police also said she had two crack pipes on her when she was arrested.

Johnson and Edwin Gonzalez, 26, of Bridgeport, were charged with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, and interfering with an officer.

Johnson was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, five counts of second-degree failure to appear, and one count of first-degree failure to appear. Her bond was set at $90,500.

Gonzalez was also charged with reckless endangerment, engaging officers in a pursuit, and three counts of evading responsibility. His bond was set at $22,000.

Both were scheduled to appear in court May 23.
