Milford Tops Fairfield To Reach Sectional Softball Final
12U Softball All Stars run winning streak to 7 in a row
The Milford Little League 12 U District All-Star softball team advanced to the Sectional Final on Wednesday with a 4-0 victory over Fairfield Monday night in Orange. Milford will now face the winner of tomorrow nights match up between Wilton and Fairfield. Milford topped Wilton earlier 5-2 on Sunday night.
Maddy Bull drew a lead off walk and Teagan Garfield followed with a single. Grace Hess legged out an infield hit scoring Garfield. Talia Salanto scored on a wild pitch giving Milford a 2-0 lead.
Milford got back on the board again in the 3rd. Garfield and Mya Dawid each reached on errors putting runners on second and third. Talia Salanto’s sacrifice fly scored Garfield to make in 3-0.

Milford added another run in the top of the fourth inning when Avery Falco led off with a walk and Judy Tarczali followed with a single. Angelina Robinson beat out a bunt single to load the bases. Maddy Bull drove in Falco on a line drive to left extending the Milford lead to 4-0.
Milford starter Salanto was sharp giving up only 3 hits through 4 innings of work. Maddy Bull relieved Salanto to start the 5th and retired Fairfield in order.

Fairfield looked to rally in the 6th with a lead off bunt single. Bull retired the next two batters with strike outs and Emily Krauss secured the last out with a catch on the run in right field.
The winner of Wednesday’s Sectional Final will advance to the State Tournament starting July 12 in Durham.
Milford opened up Sectional play Sunday night with a 5-2 win over Wilton.
After spotting Wilton a run in the top of the first, Angelina Robinson led off for Milford with a bunt single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Maddy Bull reached on an error scoring Robinson and came around to score on a throwing error on the same play giving Milford a 2-0 lead after 1 inning.
Wilton tied the game at 2 in the second inning. Milford responded in the third inning with a Bull one-out walk. Talia Salanto followed with a single and came around to score on Mya Dawid’s two-run single to center. After a walk to Kelsea Flanagan, Avery Falco’s sacrifice fly scored Dawid giving Milford a 5-2 lead.
Talia Salanto came on in relief of Milford starter Judy Tarczali to start the 5th inning to preserve the win.
