Milford Veteran Honored with 17 Medals and a Ribbon for Service in Vietnam
The veteran received the medals 46 years later.

Frank Somohano Sr., a Vietnam war veteran and Milford resident received 17 medals and a ribbon Tuesday at City Hall for the time he spent serving in Vietnam, the New Haven Register reports.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn. presented the medals to Somohano. According to the paper, Somohano, 67, served in the military for 22 years.
The veteran never received the medals as he told the paper that the paperwork never caught up to him once he was honorably discharged.

Somohano’s family was happy that he received the honor saying that he truly deserved it as he is always looking to help other veterans, the paper reports. Blumenthal told the paper the medals recognized decades of extraordinary service to the country.
