Milford Woman Accused of Punching a Police Officer
Milford police say the woman tried to stop her son, 18, from driving her car and when police responded things turned physical.

A Milford woman is accused of punching a city police officer after the woman was restraining her son from driving away with her car, police said.
Milford police say they received a complaint of a domestic violence incident taking place on Welch’s Point Road last week.
Upon arrival, the officers encountered Kathleen Mathews, 57, of Welch’s Point Road, who was restraining her son, Alexander, 18, from driving away in her vehicle, police said.

Police say Mathews ignored their commands to let her son go, resulting in officers separating both parties.
While separating the two, an officer was allegedly struck with a “closed fist” by Kathleen Mathews, police said.

Kathleen Mathews is charged with breach of peace, assault on a police officer, and interfering with a police officer, while Alexander Mathews is charged with breach of peace and interfering with an officer.
They were both released on a promise to appear in Superior Court, Milford.
